THE DETAILS:
Come with the Society for a day out with a difference. Join us and see the ships of the Sydney Heritage Fleet and "behind the scenes" in their workshops at Rozelle - not normally open to the public. Then see the Australia Aviation Musuem at Bankstown for a look at their collection of preserved aircraft.
Our visit to the Sydney Heritage Fleet will start at Darling Harbour with a full guided inspection of the rebuilt operational sailing ship James Craig of 1874. We will then proceed to Rozelle Bay to be giving a guided inspection of other items if the collection including the well known steam launch Lady Hopetoun of 1902, Steam tug Waratah of 1902, the ferry Kanangra of 1912 and the coastal steamer John Oxley at well as their workshop facilities.
After a break for lunch we will proceed to Bankstown Airport for the Aviation Museum founded in 1992. At the museum we will be given a guided tour of their exhibits which include A Dakota DC-3, a DeHavilland 3 engine Drover of 1947, a Tiger Moth fighter aircraft, a Clancy Sky Baby of 1931, a Huey Cobra Helicopter gunship from Vietnam, a Grumman Tracker, a Nomad, and a Canberra Jet Bomber of 1951 and numerous other craft and displays.
Our bus will depart Sydney Central outside Platform 1 (only) at 10.00 am. We expect to return to Central at around 4:30 pm
THE FARES ARE:
Adults $30, Concessions $25 and Children (13-18 years) $20. This fare includes all entry fees for both museums. Travel throughout the day will be by a chartered ex-Government bus.
Please note tickets will not be mailed out prior to the tour. Bookings will be confirmed by phone or email.
