SETS Travels to Junee (part I)

Over the weekend of 30th & 31st May, 2009, SETS' rollingstock previously stored at Hornsby Maintenance Centre was transferred by rail to Junee roundhouse. Electric locomotives 4615 and 8606, and single deck interurban ("U-boat") cars CF5003 and CF5021 were hauled by heritage diesel locomotive 4403, which is based at Junee. After departing HMC on Saturday morning, the train headed through to the Southern Highlands with an over-night stop at Yass junction, before continuing south to Junee. Presented here are images taken over both days, as far as Cootamundra. The future second instalment will feature the remainder of the trip.

For further information about RHTA at Junee roundhouse, visit their website. All photographs Michael McGinty.

With the train still waiting in the Refuge, this view of the walkway between the two platforms shows anotherwise quiet Moss Vale station. Looking across to platform 1, the booking office and main entrance is to the right.
