Taken during 2005-2007 this two volume set is a comprehensive record of all of the types of workings over some of Australia's busiest lines. Extending from the electrified short North to the lower North Coast line and the coal roads, this DVD set covers the ordinary and the extra ordinary in all weather conditions.
You will see views of over 100 trains from one off steam, diesel and railcar tours to the every day diesel and electric suburban trains, private operator freight trains and the ever present coal trains. It captures a period of recent change in the Hunter which included the commissioning of the Sandgate flyover, the demise of the 620 Sets and new 90 class and colourful QRN locomotives to meet the ever increasing demand for coal.
In a detailed historical record of the period the highlights include:-
C class and vintage GM units hauling an ARHS special to Rosemount winery
Sequences at Sandgate before and after the commissioning of the Flyover
The final days of the 620 class railcars plus their farewell tour and the retirement run of the last serviceable set to the rail motor museum at Paterson
