Sesquicentennial Spectacular: Honouring 150 Years of Rail Heritage in NSW
In September of 2005 a series of special events were staged in celebration of 150 years since the opening of the first railway line in New South Wales. Most of the operational main line steam locomotives in the State as well as diesel electric and electric heritage equipment were used to showcase the rich heritage of rail transport, in a spectacle that may not be repeated until the next half century passes.
These special runs and display days are captured for posterity in this video and include:
1709/3526 on a mixed goods train from Picton to Braemar
3801/3830 on trips to Maitland and Moss Vale
1709/1210/2705/3112/3526 on the biggest steam lash up of the century from Picton to Moss Vale
1709/1210 teaming up on the Loop Line and in the Sydney metropolitan area
