Double Deck Interurban V Sets have been in continuous operation for 52 years with the oldest of the production fleet entering their 45th year in service in October 2022.
With ongoing delays to the introduction of the new Mariyung trains to revenue service, V Sets continue to provide sterling service to Newcastle and Lithgow.
SETS invite you join us for a tour aboard a Double Deck Interurban V Set to their old stomping ground - Wollongong and Kiama!
Could this be your last chance to ride on a V Set on the South Coast line?
The tour will commence Strathfield Station at around 9:20 am, with a pick up at Central (Sydney Terminal). Travel to Port Kembla with photo stops at Scarborough and Port Kembla North!
We will then travel to Kiama with photo stops at Cringilla and Oak Flats before heading back to Sydney with a pause for photos at Bombo and Loftus.
The tour will conclude with a run along the Bankstown line, with a photo stop at Canterbury, before the tour ends at Strathfield Station at around 4:40pm.
Sydney’s oldest operational double deck train, Interurban set V 21, has been requested for this tour, subject to its availability.
Light refreshments will be available on board the train, with a variety of drinks and snacks available.
Due to the on-going COVID19 pandemic risk, and to ensure everyone's safety, all passengers will be provided with Australian-made P2/N95 non-vented facemasks. These must be worn by all passengers aged 12 and above while on the train, except when actually eating or drinking. Passengers will also be spread out and socially distanced within the train. More details on our COVID safety plan will be advised closer to the event.
