THE DETAILS:
Just for something different, the Society will be venturing out of town for a visit to the Canberra Railway Museum operated by the ACT Division of the ARHS in the nation's capital. As a way of experiencing pre-electrification vintage train travel, a steam-hauled journey between Canberra and Royalla and return is a major feature of this visit. Travel will be on the "Spirit of Tuggeranong" hauled by the 123 year old steam lococmotive 1210.
We will depart from Sydney Terminal (outside platform 1) at 6:30am and travel by a chartered Forest Coach Lines coach. We will travel direct to Queanbeyan and join the train there at 10:45am. After a short spell in Royalla, we will return to Canberra to inspect the ARHS Museum at around 3:00pm. Departure from Canberra will be at 4:00pm, with an expected arrival at Sydney Terminal at approximately 7:30pm.
Please note there are no facilities to purchase lunch at Royalla. There will be a sausage sizzle on the platform at Royalla (not included in fare) or you may choose to bring your lunch.
THE FARES ARE:
Adults $50, Concessions $45 and Children (under 18 years) $35.
