Before proceeding to the museum, we will retrace the route of the former Campbelltown to Camden Branch which was closed in January 1963. Our trip will include a brief inspection of some remaining traces of this line.
Returning from Camden, we will then proceed to the museum for their afternoon of activities. The grounds are in an attractive rural area, and we plan to be there for about two and a half hours.
At the museum we will see Traction Engines, Steam Rollers, vintage tractors, farm and industrial machinery, stationary engines and a collection of oil, petrol and diesel powered equipment etc.. Machinery will be operational and its use demonstrated by members of the Steam Society. Activities are planned to include examples of vintage farming practises such as ploughing, threshing, sheep shearing, chaff cutting etc.
There will also be the opportunity to ride their steam railway and to inspect their complete, Walsh Island built, former first class Sydney Suburban electric trailer car, T 4357. Lunch can be bought at the museum and options include a BBQ or sit down lunch, and/or light refreshments. The site also includes toilet facilities.
Our tour will depart from Sydney Terminal under the clock tower outside Platform 1 at 9:30am. We will also pick up at Strathfield from the bus stand near the roundabout (opposite concourse exit on platform 1 side) at 10:10am. We will return to Strathfield around 5:00pm and Sydney Terminal at 5:45pm.
THE FARES ARE: Adults $32, Concessions $27 and Children (5-18 years) $15. This fare includes all travel by vintage ex-government bus and entry to the museum. Confirmation of receipt of your booking will be made by phone.
