Come and join SETS for an unusual electric loco
tour. Travel around the system in a vintage train
with two electric locos - one on the front and one
on the back !
Our tour will feature two 86 class locos, including
our own 8606. The all-day tour will take us to
some once familiar places for electric locos, plus a
couple of locations where they have rarely been
seen. We will cover a variety of underground,
suburban, goods and interurban lines.
Numerous photostops have been allowed along
the route. Some cab rides will be available.
This is a rare opportunity to travel on a push-pull
electric loco hauled train. Highlights of the day
will include the run to Glenfield via the City
Underground and the Airport Line, traversing the
Y-link, the run through the scenic Blue Mountains
to Lithgow, and the return via Bondi Junction.
Our tour will commence with an 9:25 am
departure from REDFERN (Platform 9)
proceeding to the City Underground, with a quick
pick-ups at Central (before) at 9:33 am (Platform
17) and (after) 9:48 am (Platform 23).
We then travel to Glenfield via the Airport and
East Hills Lines. The train changes direction and
then proceeds to the Western Line via the Harris
Park Y-Link. We then go to Katoomba where we
have a one-hour lunch break.
After lunch we continue on to Lithgow. After a 60
minute break, we return to the city proceeding via
the Lidcombe Loop to Sydenham to enter the
Eastern Suburbs Railway. We travel to Bondi
Junction and then return to the city, setting down
at Kings Cross at 19:49. The trip concludes at
Redfern (ESR) at around 19:58 pm.
